Dr. David Schoen is a materials scientist and Principal Engineer with Exponent, a Bay Area technical consulting firm. In this role he supports a number of companies around the Bay Area and world solve difficult materials science challenges as they work to develop new products. He’s found that the most crucial ingredient in solving new problems and pushing technology forward is creativity.
In his academic work, he’s put time, attention, and effort into science and engineering education at all levels, from tutoring younger students, volunteering with the e4USA program which promotes engineering education in high school, as a lecturer at Stanford University, and also with the National Center for Engineering Education.
Alongside his work in science and engineering, David is also a committed musician. He’s played the Saxophone, Guitar, and now Piano at CMA. Music has been a constant companion in his life and he’s deeply committed to CMA’s mission to spark a love of music and to foster many lifetime commitments to creativity among the students and community.
